Salt-glazed earthenware has been made in Bouffioulx since the Middle Ages (13th century). The excellent quality of the local clay meant that it was possible to make household pottery, which was used for table ware and food storage. The name of Georges CRAME, ancestorof the present potter Bernard DUBOIS, appears in the 1595 book of Master Potters. Bernard DUBOIS is 13th in the line of potters which descends from father to son and daughter. Established in a farm in the heart of the village, the DUBOIS family workshop is open to visitors eager to discover 5 centuries of history, the magic of the potter’s whell, firing at 1300°C and the skill of the artisans. To our visitors we offer a tour the workshop in full activity. Taste our local specialities in the warm environment of our tavern, “La Grange aux Potiers”, and feel free to visit ou craft shop.
